It’s funny how a street can look so different at night. Sometimes spookier. When I was little and had to lug trash out at night, I would get scared, like something in the shadows was going to snatch me while I was in my driveway. I’d get myself so worked up about it that I’d run back inside, like something hellish was on my tail.
I was thinking about that while I was taking the trash out just now. As I was attempting to close the lid on the trashcan, I noticed that for once no cars were driving past the apartment. One of those strange hiccups in traffic on what is always a busy street. Everything was quiet. I looked at the sky, where the moon looked like a hole punched in the sky — perfect, white and round. The buildings under it looked asleep, all the windows dark. Cars started pouring down the street again. But for a second, I felt alone in the city, and it felt peaceful.

God, it’s been a hot minute since i’ve posted anything. I’m gonna work on that. However, not going to post anything personal anymore I don’t think, as this blog seems to be a death knell for relationships. Or at least that’s what I’ll blame it on.

Anyhow.

Can I just talk about web comics for a minute? I’ve been expanding to reading more than just http://achewood.com/ for once. New favorites?

Awesome comic. Nothing beats adorable monsters and their bizarrely awesome owners. I’m waiting for the theme of koala assassins to resurface. Right now it’s in the beginning of what would be a trite story arc elsewhere — The main character, chase, meets his girlfriend’s dad. Not so much here, where the dad is some beastly scottish adventurer. We’ll see where it goes, but the humor here is strange and wonderful. i’d post an image, but he makes them really wide, and to be honest, i’m too lazy to figure out how to make that look right on here. just go check it out. here’s the link a second time, in case you’re to lazy to move your hand too far: Nerf This

Hark! A Vagrant:
Honestly, one of the best things I’ve been reading lately. Her style kind of reminds me of Quentin Blake (dude who illustrated for Roald Dahl) a little, but that may just be me. Also, the lady is hell of funny. My favorite thing she does is where she does a little one-off strip based on an edward gorey book cover. I would post one of those, but she posts them in large batches. Instead, I will post a nice example of her art

Life is pretty awesome lately. I’ve got me a fella, and I think he’s all kinds of wonderful. And I mean it, with every bone in my normally hateful little body. I have the feeling this summer is going to be full of adventure and wonder.

Last night, I dreamt the world was ending. Fire rained down from the sky, and living on this fault line finally paid off. I stole a car and kept on the move with a few other survivors, trying to stay out of the way of the hellfire and earthquakes. On the news, they said it was happening all over the world. People were panicking, tv news didn’t know what to say. Instead of sensationalizing about the end of days, they just offered advice and information on keeping safe. But just as quickly as it started, it stopped. Broadcasters talked about the importance of a healthy economy in order to recover from the disaster. People stopped looting, and started supporting each other and finding their loved ones. I woke up thinking about how grass grows back greener after it’s been burnt.

So I had a pretty great weekend actually, even had a great valentine’s day hanging with all the right people. I then went into some weird nap coma, and now i still feel tired, despite sleeping for way more than 12 hours. Haven’t updated in a minute, so here are some things:

Somewhere, someone has a desperate urge to pay $20 for photoshopping animal faces onto human bodies, especially if those bodies are members of the armed forces. Petsinuniform.com is here to meet the needs of that slim client base.
My favorite section is the “exotic” one, where things veer from cute to creepy pretty quick, hence the below astropancakes. Apparently there is a national pancake day, so that’s kind of awesome.

God, totally told people about what you’re reading when i was at the bar last night. maybe i’ll get more traffic. maybe i need to make shirts.
i also invited someone to join my fake band.
i also kind of bitched out a homeless person? he targeted me, first calling me a pretty lady, then saying he was gonna sing me a pretty song and if i had some money i could give him etc etc. i promptly told him i had $4 in my bank account, my car’s due for some kind of expensive checkup thing i don’t know how i’m going to pay for and my power steering keeps failing while i’m driving etc etc. dogg offered me 50 cents. i told him to just go try another lady. i mean really, just coz im white and my nose turns up a little doesn’t mean there’s money in my pockets.
I did, however, get my guitar back. As well as two burlap coffee bean sacks?
Done taking topamax, can’t be this dumb when school starts. Found out that i can stop taking it suddenly, and i won’t convulse (toad said if there’s one thing you don’t want to do in life, it’s convulse) because i don’t take it for seizures. so that’s pretty sweet. normal, not messed up all the time feeling katy soon.

about to go try and return one ipod alarm clock thing for a louder one that actually charges my ipod.
